ICT as situating tool puts learner into an environment to experience. it makes learning more realistic. It has got different benefits for teacher and students as it opens up all sensory of a child, on top of that it allows us to experience realistically. It pursuit user to situate himself in the environment, it motivates us to teach creatively for students using simulation and it also help students to build up their sense of creativeness in learning for various subjects.
Importance of situating tool:
- situates users in environment.
- users have options to manipulate variables
- can communicate with other users.
We learnt about different types of situating tools like Google classroom, GraphCalc and Google maps. From this tool I found myself benefited form google classroom. Before I had no idea about what is google classroom and how it functions.
Now I know how useful is google classroom. It is a situating tool as it makes learning realistic,where students and teacher can do their work as usual like in the classroom even when they are not. After learning about google classroom I can now have a idea about how to create a google classroom and I will be also able to give assignment to the students through it.
We can even give announcement to the class like we do in schools and classes. As a teacher they can asses students assignment even by using rubrics, they can set questions in different ways. Teacher can upload reading materials and any other material related to teaching. And on the other had students can do their assignment and submit it online to get their marks. They can learn from their teacher like they do when the are in schools.
I would now love to create google classroom to do task when we are not able to have a face to face teaching. I am eager to experience teaching and learning through google classroom.
